Default Viability of E/mo as primary healer?

Last night I was doing dragon's lair on my ele, and as it happened, there were no monks and I was the closest thing to a monk available. I set up like this:

Heal Other
Jamei's Gaze
Draw Conditions
Heal Party
Heal Area
Ether Prodigy
Glyph of Sacrifice
Ressurection Chant

12 Healing, 12+1 ES, (because I had no sup energy storage rune), rest in prot

Not only was I surprised it worked, but was floored with how well it worked. It was easier in almost every way than normal monking. I never had to think about energy management, and I could spam the money spells all day long. also had the amazing GoS + Res Chant combo. It got me to thinking: why does anyone bother making primary monks healbots? In PvP I understand that this lacks a good self heal and is easily shut down by screwing with ether prodigy. In PvE I can't really think of any disadvantages to running this over a primary healbot.

well, you're missing out on DF, is all i can think of off of the top of my head. when i use just plain healing on my monk i dont run the money spells much, save for an ocassional h.o. maybe... instead stick to the small 5e and conditional heals like WoH and dwayna's kiss... you'd be surprised at the efficiency you get between DF and meeting the conditions for the extra heal on those, esp. dwayna's. throw orison in there too of course and a little oh-shit removal...

anyone care to do some calculating to see just how much that e/mo build is capable of healing over time?

Well, a primary monk with 13 DF and 16 healing spamming orison will heal 73 + 41 = 114 per shot. Heal other is +151 at 12 healing. Dwayna's kiss is 63 + 41 + 37 per hex and enchantment. With one condition met, you get 141, and with 2 or more you're easily outpowering heal other.

A monk casting heal other will heal for well over 200 health though, so a monk is the clear winner with spike healing, although it's not sustainable. Most monk builds tend to run out of energy pretty quickly if constantly spamming 5e heals, and even faster if spamming 10e heals.

Here's how I see it:

Mo/X
Pros: Higher spike healing
Can use secondary class
Access to DF skills
Use of monk elite spells

Cons: Generally poor energy management
Secondary class is usually relegated to energy management
Cannot effectively use heal other, healing breeze, and heal party for any significant amount of time
Cannot rez in combat effectively

E/mo
Pros: Will never run out of energy
Can spam HP and use extinguish very effectively, making it strong against degen
Can insta-rez with Glyph of Sacrifice and Res chant
Primary heal (heal other) heals for 132% more than orison of healing

Cons:
Vulnerable to heavy enchantment stripping (Repetetive loss of ether prodigy hurts)
May not use monk elites
May not use DF skills effectively
Ineffective spike healing

As a final note, I was looking at some of the prot skills too. An ele can use shield guardian as a primary heal/prot spell VERY effectively (For 10 seconds, target ally has a 75% chance to block incoming attacks. The next time target ally blocks an attack, that ally and all nearby allies are healed for 16...67 and Shield Guardian ends.)

Thoughts?

Emos can take infuse too, you know. Isn't that spike healing?
Shield Guardian is ok but that recharge pulls you down. Even if you're fueled by a crazy energy engine (for me it was MoR before the nerf @ 16 inspiration)
it's still not enough to use as a primary source of healing. Dunno, try it it.
I've always wanted to try that GoS+rez chant thingy. *Considers making an elementalist... nah*

EMos with Prodigy Heal Party are one of the strongest healers in PvE.

'Course you want another spike healer to go with it.

Ether prodigy strips your enchantments and does damage to the caster when it ends. As a *primary* healer, an ele would be utterly destroyed in a pvp situation running a build similar to this. A single removal of enchants after prodigy is cast can lead into a spike, and protting an ele who constantly removes his/her enchantments is a very efficient way to keep your own monks low on energy. /cough
Very effective in pve though. Not many spikes.. although I have been hit by shatter enchant, fireball, & wild blow in perfect sync during fow runs.

Lastly, with an introduction of several NF skills, I do see the ele being utilized as a support class more often in pvp.

yeah they can make a good replacement for a monk, but you will need to cast maybe 50% more than a monk, but u also got 50% + more energy

you could do it with a necro too, cos of the high energy income. mind you are abit stuffed if things dont die..

Heal spammers have been around for a long time now, basically, it works great in PvE, it doesnt work well in RA or something like that though. It also misses utility like hex removal and condition removal because it needs to devote all skillslots to healing where as a monk has enough with 2 heal spells.
